No. We only read emails from the teacher addresses you specifically add. Nothing else in your inbox is touched. We don't keep the email content either: we pull out the homework and event details (saved to your account so we can build your calendar and digest), then discard the message. The extraction itself runs on Anthropic's Claude AI, which processes the email content to do the job and, under Anthropic's current API terms, doesn't use it to train AI models.
If you turn on archive mode in settings, processed teacher emails are automatically archived in Gmail after BackpackBuddy extracts the important details, so your inbox stays clean without losing anything.
